A Note to Our Customers
December

With an update September 1, 2006
Dear
Customers,
Our
family has been making candles since the mid 1970's. It all started with
a candle kit given to me by my parents for my12th birthday. For some reason
my dad tinkered with its contents instead of me. It wasn't long before
he had mom's kitchen over run with pots of wax, scents, and candle molds,
(yes we used the frozen orange juice container too!) Soon mom banished
him to the basement, were he could work at will, uninterrupted.
A bricklayer
by trade, he would come home after a hard day's work, and start the long
tedious work of developing a high quality candle product. Many of the
products, colors, and scent schematics we have today were developed at
that time.
Even though I never tinkered with the contents of my birthday present,
I did have a knack for selling what my dad produced.
We fashioned a box, put a strap on it and I lugged it around the neighborhood
selling my dad's wares. Dad continued making candles selling them wherever
he could. I started American Candle Classics in 1989 as a mail order business,
figuring that if people liked our products here in good ol' Allentown,
PA, they would like them anywhere. We continued to grow in the 90's, and
along with the rise of the Internet, created an online presence for customers
to order easily and have their candles shipped right to their home. To
this day if you
Google American Candles we come up as number one.
In
October of 2002 my father was diagnosed with stomach cancer. He underwent
surgery that removed his entire stomach.
While recovery looked promising for a while, his health has deteriorated
recently. My dad's name is James and we ask that you keep him in your
thoughts and prayers this Christmas.
Due to these circumstances
we have decided to suspend operations at this time. Until we can provide
the level of service American Candle Classics' customers are used to receiving
and have orders shipped in a timely manner we will cease operations. Thanks
for all your wonderful comments about our candles over the years and we
hope and pray for a full recovery of my father very soon.

update - We recently just learned that my dad's cancer has returned,
you
can read more about it here. We will be keeping this site up
and transition it to an affliate site portal for Candles, Home Decor,
Gifts, Flowers, Books, Clothing, and much, more. Come visit, and if you
want to purchase an item from one of our affliates, simply click on the
affliate and if you do make a purchase we will make a small percentage
off your sale. It will cost you nothing, and it will in some small way
keep a small income stream for this business, which in turn will help
support my parents in their golden years. As in the past, we appreciate
your business.
Sincerely yours,
Steven W. Riedy
